As I write this, I am officially iced in. I don’t mind. All week I have been like a kid on a snow day. It is not often we have such prolonged, subzero temperatures, especially this early in winter, and no doubt, despite the warnings of ongoing freeze, by the time this arrives in your inbox my ice will have melted and I’ll be back up to my knees in mud again.
We are, as you know, living in a small caravan without much in the way of modern comforts like power or heating, high up and exposed on a mountain, and temperatures this week have dipped below -4C and stayed below freezing. A neighbour from down the hill kindly called by to check in on us, and a lot of you who follow my stories on Instagram have been asking if we are OK, if we’re warm enough.
