I grew up in an agricultural area where the land was the richest around, the towns abundant, the farmers affluent relative to their trade. They lived in beautiful ornate 19th Century manses built by indentured Irish. They were a pack of dullards, it had become one of the most boring regions on earth, in what had become a very boring nation for its comfort. Better to live in a wild place that only supports goats. In a bothy. Wake up each morning with a strong pulse.
